Video Transcript for All You Need to Know About the Jif Marine Folding Pontoon Ladder

Jeff: Hello, everybody. This is Jeff etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a look at this Jif Marine stainless steel four-step folding pontoon ladder. Has a 300 pound weight capacity. Now this four-step pontoon ladder lets you easily climb a board your pontoon boat. You can see it has a nice foldable design, allows for easy storage.

It only weighs about eight pounds. It is a rust-proof stainless steel construction. They do use the plastic steps, which are injection molded and UV resistant. And to install this, it's a very easy installation or removal, using these included plastic cup mounts right here, and the hardware that comes with them. Now the cup mounts are designed to install onto your pontoon boat and allow the top of the ladder to attach to the boat. And for this demonstration, we actually hooked the piece of two by four, up here with some holes in it, just to give you an idea of this being your pontoon. So you would take these plastic cup holders, insert them into the holes and then use your hardware that's here to tighten it down.

And then all you have to do to insert your ladder, is it's a foldable design, so right here, you can see just fold these bars out. And then what you'll do is line it up with the holes. And once you to get them in the holes, just like that, it'll attach to the pontoon and now you can see it's folded up. Has the rubber stoppers right here, or rubber bumpers, that'll go up against the boat so it doesn't damage anything. And you can see right now it's in the folded up position. To lower it down, all you have to do, it has two C-clamps here that clip to the bar, you just pop that loose.

Pop this one loose. And then your ladder will fold all the way down. Now you have four steps that you can climb up on. We mentioned the weight capacity on this is 300 pounds. Give you a few measurements.

Overall height, we'll measure from the bottom of this step. All the way to where the top is right about here, is going to be 44-1/2 inches. Overall width, the widest point is where the steps are, so that's about 15-1/2 inches. The rung spacing, in other words, from step to step is going to be right at about 10 inches. And the hook depth here, in other words, the range of the hook right here is about six inches. The step depth, in other words, the width of the steps that you're going to be stepping on is about 2-1/4 inches. And as I mentioned, the total weight on the whole ladder is only about eight pounds. So again, when you're not using it, all you can do is fold this right up. And here's the two clips we're talking about, and they'll just clip to each side like that and hold it securely in place. And then when you're done using it, you can actually remove the whole unit from there. Now the cup mounts, of course won't come out cause there'll be installed. And then you can just fold it together. And just like that, you have a nice portable ladder, very easy to use. But that should do it for the review on this Jif Marine stainless steel four step folding pontoon ladder, with the 300 pound weight capacity.

Bought for my mom and dad who have knee problems. The 5th step makes it much more easy for them to get back onto the boat. Highly recommend this product.

It works perfect for our pontoon boat!!! We are super happy about it!!

The Ladder itself is excellent. There was a problem with the screws provided. The instructions did not give a size of pilot hole to use. But I did predrill a hole. upon install the screw snaps off and I had to remove it. Again, I up sized the pilot hole and the screw snaped again. this time I had to use a small pipe wrench to extract it. I threw the screws away and purchase better grade screws to use. It was a lot of unnecessary work because of inferior screws. I would recommend just not using them.

Works well

The ladder is durable and has withstood many boardings from the water. It is nice that it folds and the arms swing inward so that it can lay flat. Works nice for storing and tucking out of the way when not in use. It does tend to want to pivot or rock side to side when in use while trying to climb it. It would be nice if it had some sort of locking mechanism to prevent that when it is deployed and in use.
